This licence covers the UIL Platform: UIL Installer, UIL Manager, UIL Backup, UIL Locker, UIL Config tooling and UIL SecAdvisor, including their source code, binaries, packaging and documentation (“the Platform”). It does not cover takhiOS itself, Arch Linux components, or third-party software, each of which remains under its own licence.

  1. Grant — use. You may use the Platform, without fee and without activation, on any number of machines, for personal, educational or commercial purposes, and you may modify it for your own private use.

  2. Grant — distribution with takhiOS. You may redistribute unmodified Platform packages (a) as part of a takhiOS Community Edition image and (b) as part of mirrors, copies and derivative distributions of that image, provided this licence and all notices travel with the packages and no fee is charged for the Platform itself.

  3. Restrictions. You may not: relicense the Platform or offer it under other terms; extract Platform components and ship them in another product, distribution or service; charge for the Platform as such; remove or alter licence, copyright or attribution notices; or use UIL Labs names, marks or branding beyond factual attribution.

  4. Ownership. UIL Labs retains all right, title and interest in the Platform. No rights are granted except as stated here.

  5. Services. Rented storage, fleet management and other hosted services are governed by separate terms (see 04-LOCKER-SERVICE-TERMS.md and 01-TERMS-OF-USE.md).

  6. Third-party and GPL components. takhiOS bundles Arch Linux components and other third-party software under their own licences. Components licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) keep all of their GPL rights. This licence does not restrict, relicense or take rights away from those GPL components, and it adds no conditions to them. See 07-THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md.

  7. No warranty. The Platform is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. It is experimental software. See 02-LIMITATION-OF-LIABILITY.md.

  8. Liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, UIL Labs and the author are not liable for any damages arising from the use of the Platform. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service in the prior 12 months — which is zero for everything currently offered. The exclusions and limits do not apply to liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including mandatory consumer rights, gross negligence or wilful misconduct, and non-waivable statutory liability. Indirect and consequential losses are excluded to the extent the law allows. See 02-LIMITATION-OF-LIABILITY.md.

  9. Termination. Breach of section 3 ends the grants in sections 1 and 2. Copies lawfully received before termination may continue to be used under this licence.

  10. Version. This licence may be updated for future releases; each release keeps the licence it shipped with.
